SUSTAINABLY-SOURCED SPIRITS
INSPIRED BY CLIMATE-SMART FARMING
+ THE SPIRIT OF CREATIVITY

The Industrious Spirit Company produces sustainably sourced vodka, gins, bourbons and specialty spirits (many inspired by our love of the Ocean State) at Providence’s first distillery since Prohibition.  We are proud of our unique, handcrafted spirits and thrilled to have the opportunity to share them with you!

We are located on the site of a former industrial mill complex just a mile from Downtown Providence, a place where things have been fabricated for over 150 years. You can visit us for drinks, snacks, music + food events and bottle sales at our Tasting Room, or find us in RI, MA, CT and NY at liquor stores and in excellent cocktails at bars and restaurants. For out of state shipping, head on over to our Shop page for some options. We look forward to crossing paths!

We came to this project with a love for spirits and for making things by hand, inspired by our community of artists, designers, chefs, bartenders and farmers. We care deeply about each step of our process—from our regional partners that grow our grains according to regenerative farming practices, to the time we take with our onsite mashing, fermenting, distilling, bottling and packaging. Our spent grains, a byproduct of distilling, go to a local farmer who feeds them to their pigs and cows. We are obsessed with process, giving meticulous attention to detail, yet work hard to bring exuberance and creativity into everything we do. We love working with small producers (and the occasional larger producer doing things in ways we can get behind—recognizing that it’s going to take allllll of us to make change)—and focus on sourcing the most delicious and sustainably grown grains and botanicals. We are committed to superior flavor, to fun, to the spirit of creativity, and to doing things right even if the process takes time.

Manya and Dan have known each other for over two decades as part of a creative community in the Valley neighborhood of Providence. Based on a shared dedication to making and a love of delicious items, the two decided to partner to bring craft distilling back to Providence back in the fall of 2016—good things truly do take time! (So. Much. Time.) Dan, a Head Distiller, is a skilled welder and artist with years of fermentation experience. Manya, our CEO and co-founder, is a marketer with a love of agriculture, spirits and community building. Along the way the two have picked up some amazing partners and team members!

Eric Olson is also a Head Distiller at ISCO, he is a lifelong Rhode Islander with over two decades of experience managing kitchens of all shapes and sizes, a certified Master Gardener and grower of hops with a voracious passion for the fermented and distilled beverage community.

CFO/COO Doug Randall has a lengthy background in finance and entrepreneurship. A Rhode Island native, Doug was initially drawn in by both the vision for the venture and the idea of creating a tangible product—especially a tangible product as delightful as whiskey!

As owner and founder of the Albany Distilling Company (since 2011), partner John Curtin knows a thing or two about distillation. He shares our founders’ deep love of Providence from the years he spent living in an artist loft just around the corner from our current location.

Cait Jackson, our Tasting Room Manager and Creative Director, has an extensive background in hospitality. In addition to helping to ensure superior Tasting Room experiences, Cait particularly enjoys helping those newer to spirits expand their palates. In her spare time, Cait enjoys planning her next traveling adventure, hosting movie nights with friends, and reading while snuggling up with her cats.

Jen Chapin, our Head of Sales, brings 23 years of experience in sales leadership, team-building and passion for the industry to our team. A firm believer in thinking creatively and striving for excellence in all things, Jen has worked over the last 16 years building brands in the Northeast for companies such as Stoli and Branca. Outside of work, Jen enjoys spending time with her two teenage children as well as her friends, and loves to ski and be out on the water as much as possible.

Jenny Lane Smith is a seasoned brand ambassador who loves to enlighten, educate and introduce people to a wide variety of spirits. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, before becoming a Brand Ambassador, Jenny taught Graphic Communications at the technical high school level. As an artist, Jenny specializes in nautical artwork, capturing the essence of the sea. When she's not in her studio or representing brands, you can find her paddle boarding on the bay, enjoying the serenity of the water and collecting shells.
