Sustainability: Oysters are incredible creatures—a single adult oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of seawater a day, while oyster reefs prevent coastal erosion and promote biodiversity. Furthering our commitment to sustainable farming in the ocean as well as on land, a portion of sales from each bottle of Ostreida go to a local non-profit dedicated to improving the long term heath of our oceans and communities. Non-profit partners include or have included: the Billion Oyster Project, helping restore New York Harbor’s oyster reefs alongside education initiatives and improved waterfront access, Greenwave, catalyzing regenerative ocean crop farming to yield economic and climate impacts, the Blue Ocean Society, protecting marine life in the Gulf of Maine through research, education and action, and Maine Aquaculture, supporting Maine’s aquatic farming sector.

Production Method: Using our made-from-scratch 100% organic corn base, we run a distillation with just-hauled-from-the-sea oysters in the actual still. Oyster shells from our production process are composted and our spent grains are sent to feed pigs and cows on a local farm. Each batch of Ostreida highlights oysters from a specific farm and region as indicated on the bottle’s neck tag, producing subtle variations in flavor to celebrate oysters’ unique “merroir”!
